Crowdsourced studies

Getting to the bottom of something is really easy if you do the right amount of tests and studies, but these are costly and rarely are completed for all the things you wish they would be for. In comes crowdsourced based studies. Think kickstarter meets double blind placebo to beat the marketing hype and get down to the real data. What price would be needed to run a study, then divide that by what percentage of the product people would be willing to invest in to get the info, maybe 5%, and that gives you the number of the people you need to contribute.

  • Foods / Supplements

  • Exercise equipment

  • Consumer products

  • A/B tests on tasks with a battery of products

There is a big marketplace of people that do this type of research self funded who go and sell the info in the form of ads or affiliate codes on the backend. While this can work, there is likely a huge amount of sunk money in the research or in the actual products allowing for a wide variance in the profitability or sustainability of the enterprise. Standardize the studies and price properly.

Redefining the minimums

For nearly 30 years I have been experimenting with the limits of the socially acceptable ranges for living in the USA. This has been really quite interesting as I have traversed all manor of “class” levels from blue collar minimum wage work to white collar software development and management all without succumbing to a drastic increase in expenses. In fact I have kept my expenses on average, barring rent fluctuations, right around what I was spending in high school, but the experiment will go further.

Van life 2.0

It’s been nearly 6 years since my last van adventure was cut short by a theft that also sent my life into a full reset, so its due for another go. Things in the van life world have come a long way as has my life that would need to be accommodated for should I rejoin the ranks as a mobile traveler and tiny living advocate.

Goals

  • Reduced expenses

  • Regain a social presense

  • Work remotely from wherever

Music production

Music had always been a huge part of my life until my mid 20’s. I started getting further and further away from many things that took up my days and nights while pursuing work proficiency. This worked a ton but it leaves me wanting to reconnect to my roots. It is still a main item on my 40 list, so let’s knock this out.

  • Learn Logic Pro X.

  • Learn to play some intermediate skill piano for fills.

  • Relearn some music theory, composition, and how to read piano sheet music.

Redo all scouting badges and reclaim Eagle

Something that I have been wondering for some years is whether or not I could still survive in the wild or have any proficiency in skills of my past. To that end a great place to test any skills would be in the scouting realm.

Taking the full set of boy scout badges 2021, and redo all of them while documenting the process.

  • 1 video for each badge.

  • Speed run time lapse format for different media.

  • Challenge others to complete the badges.

  • Hard Mode? Are there ways to increase the difficulty of the requirements?
